Deborah Marchbank

November 1, 1961 — July 9, 2022

Debbie gained her wings and rejoined Jesus and her heavenly family on July 9, 2022 after a long battle with small cell lung cancer. She was 61 years old. Debbie is the mother of 8 wonderful children. However, many people considered Deb to be a mother figure in their life!

It would be wrong to say that Debbie lost her battle because she truly never stopped fighting. Her spirit, resilience, and perseverance always shined through. Her indomitable welcoming spirit, and joy for life radiated onto everyone that crossed her path. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was at heart. Debbie was the most loving, caring, and involved Grandmother and Mother. Debbie was giving and she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy. She was always there when you needed her most. She truly was grateful for her Life, Family, and relationship with God.

Debbie is survived by her, children; Robert T. (Starla) Ilkanic, Clifton J. (Jacque) Ilkanic, Katie L. Ilkanic, Luke B. Ilkanic (Samantha Petitti); stepson, Richard Ilkanic Jr.,

Grandchildren, Coby S, Isabella I, Richie I, Lucian I, Natalie S, Ariella I, Bo I., Madison I.; 2 brothers: Tom Marchbank and Jason Harding; and loved ones: Gilbert Mendoza, Alexis Zervos/Shear (Codey & Brielle S.) and many many more!

She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Gloria Marchbank; brothers, Warren Marchbank, Cliff Marchbank, Creek Marchbank, Brad Marchbank, Guy Marchbank, and Mark Marchbank; children: Charles R. Hagel, Sarah A. Smith, and step-son Micheal Ilkanic.

While the family grieves, they are choosing to remember Debbie in a way that honors her spirit and follows her last wish. Her children invite family and friends that hold Debbie dear to their heart to join them in a Celebration of Life Family Gathering at Kankakee State Park on Saturday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m.
