Vera W. Klenz, 97, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Peotone, died Friday (June 14, 2013) at IU Hospital North, Carmel, Ind. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22 until the noon funeral service at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, Peotone. The Rev. Peggy Johnson will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Monee. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mrs. Klenz and her husband, Franklin, farmed until 1953 when they moved to Peotone. From 1961 to 1976 they owned and operated Peotone Shoe and Clothing on Second Street in Peotone. She was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Will Township, the daughter or Edward and Lena (Seggebruch) Arnold. Her husband, Franklin E. Klenz, whom she married July 20, 1940, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Monee, preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was active in numerous senior groups in Peotone. She was a former member of the Peotone Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Will County Senior Services. She enjoyed playing pinochle and then later in life playing bingo. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy Bryk, of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Michele (Chad) Peddycord, of Westfield, Ind., and Steven (Karen) Bryk, of Indianapolis; five great-grandchildren, Madeleine Stewart, Jacob and Kathryn Peddycord, Riley and Landon Bryk; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn (the late Frank) Polka, of Las Cruces, N.M., and Marian (the late Anthony) Banks, of Joliet; two special cousins, Lucille Schroeder, of Mokena, and Verna Vehrs, of Dexter, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Al Bryk; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Eleanor Arnold; sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Albert Monacelli, Dorothy and Joe Lamberta, Edith and Nick Ficarella, and Eleanor and Frank Misischia.
