Velma L. Werner, 88, of Peotone, died Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL. She was born June 2, 1925 in Monee, IL, the daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Becker) Siefker. She married the late Milton Werner (Nov. 30, 1987) in Crete, IL on December 7, 1947. She was a homemaker and a faithful farmer's wife. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 27 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Billow and Nancy Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the Plassmann Scholarship Fund at Immanuel United Church of Christ or Hospice of Kankakee Valley would be appreciated.
Mrs. Werner is survived by 3 children; Leroy (Nola) Werner of Peotone, Jeanette (Dr. Brent) Brantley of Marion, KY, and Debra (Gary) Parker of Peotone; 9 grandchildren, Desiree (David) Talbert, Daniel (Jenny) Werner, Laura (Eric) Canty, Jennifer (Matt) Bobrowicz, Cole (Kelly) Brantley, Josh Brantley, Zack (Elizabeth) Brantley, David Parker and Shannon Parker; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Norma Riegel; a brother, Melvin Siefker; and a daughter-in-law, Jolene Werner.
