Thomas F. Papp, age 72, of Manteno, formerly of Peotone, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 22, 1942 in Chicago, the son of the late Joseph and Marion (Hickman) Papp. He is survived by his wife, Diane (Smith) Papp who he married on November 1, 1960 in Chicago. He is also survived by five daughters, Tammy (Steve) Hoffman of Peotone, Kim Molik of Manteno, Penny Papp of Manteno, Christy Papp of Lockport, and Carey (Greg) Meyer of Manteno; seven grandchildren, Jill (Justin) Schroeder, Jami (Dave Cyrier) Baumgartner, Mandi (John) Byrne, Lauren (Craig) Nelson, Kara Molik, Kali (Ryan Lancaster) Molik, and Tommy Meyer; three great-grandchildren, Kobe Baumgartner, Madison and Mallory Schroeder; two sisters, Carol (Charles) Billick of Tinley Park and Patricia (Russ) Roff of Florida; four sisters-in-law, Marge (Jim Mitchel) Papp of Crete, Millie Heinz of Oklahoma, Joan Dunham of California, and Michele (Dave) Wise of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Papp; a sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson; and his mother-in-law, Mildred “Baba” Smith.

Mr. Papp was a retired machinist. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone. He was a fan of Chicago sports and auto racing, enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, and loved animals.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23 from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23 at 7:00 p.m., Deacon Jim Kelly officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or the Humane Society would be appreciated.
