Raymond William Manning, 77, of Peotone, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at St. James Manor in Crete.

He was born December 27, 1936, in Chicago. He was a retired business agent for Elevator Constructors Local #2 in Chicago. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Peotone, and member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Ecumenical Minister and liturgist at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was the past president of the Church Council. He enjoyed golf, fishing and gardening. He was a Chicago Bears fan and a fan of Notre Dame football.

Mr. Manning is survived by his wife, Irene (Minervino) Manning, whom he married on May 3, 1958, at St. Anthony in Chicago; two sons, Thomas (Katharine) Manning of Bourbonnais and John (Rose) Manning of Bergland, Mich.; grandchildren, Jessica Manning (fiance John Paul McCaslin V) of Peotone and Neil Manning of Battle Creek, Mich.; a step-grandson, Joseph Taftafoya III; a brother, Roy (Fayrae) Manning of White Pidgeon, Mich.; a sister, Linda (Robert) Segretti of Merrionette Park; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Margaret) Minervino of Chicago Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Manning; his parents, Roy and Katherine Buckley Manning; and two sisters, Katherine Sheehan and Susan Manning.

Visitation 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 3, at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip.
