Ralph Luehrs
March 26, 1928 — September 3, 2013
Ralph W. Luehrs Sr., age 85, of Manteno, formerly of Harvey and Peotone, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Presence St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Billow and Nancy Wheeler officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family. Burial will take place at Peotone Cemetery.
Mr. Luehrs was born on March 26, 1928 in Harvey, IL, the son of the late LeRoy and Helen (Yaeger) Luehrs. He was retired from Interlake Steel in Riverdale, IL. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Steinhauer) Luehrs whom he married on November 25, 1950. He is also survived by his children, Dennis (Debbie), Gerald (Eileen), Deborah (Bert) Weaver, Sharon (David) Wurster, Victor, Ralph Jr. (Cindy), John (Renee), and Laura (Allen) LoCascio; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Dunlap; and a daughter-in-law, Susan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Gladys.
