Ragner W. Nelson, 67, of Peotone for the past 22 years, formerly of Orlando, FL, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m., Pastor James Rutter officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials to Hospice of Kankakee Valley would be appreciated.
He was born March 3, 1946 in Yuba City, CA to the late Herbert and Mary Virginia (Straub) Nelson. He was a retired construction estimator for Champion Drywall of Channahon, IL. He was a US Air Force Veteran, a member of the Peotone United Methodist Church, an avid deer hunter, and was active in the Will County 4H Club.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” (Wyman) Nelson of Peotone who he married on December 1, 1984 in Orlando, FL; 3 children, Wallace (Theresa) Nelson of Wells Beach, ME, Christopher (Brianne Forrest) Nelson of Braidwood, and Heather Michelle Nelson of Peotone; 4 grandchildren, Calvin, Kyle, Travis, and Leila Nelson; 2 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward (Eileen) Nelson of Palatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ginny LaCorte; and a brother, Kent Nelson.
