Nora M. Johnson

Nora M. Johnson, age 84, of Peotone, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at her home.

She was born on September 21, 1941, in Sterling, IL, , the daughter of Henry and Vernice (Eikenberry) Weaver. Nora grew up in Tampico, IL and graduated from Tampico High School and then earned her bachelor’s degree at Western Illinois University. She married Paul W. Johnson on June 9, 1963, at the Tampico United Methodist Church in Tampico, IL. Paul passed away on July 11, 2023.

Nora was a long-time math teacher at Peotone Junior High School where she also coached basketball, volleyball, and track. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Nora and Paul enjoyed traveling all over the country to watch their granddaughter, Allie, play softball. She was a member of the Peotone United Methodist church and active volunteering with Helping Hands Food Pantry. She enjoyed meeting up with the morning group at Peotone McDonalds for sweet tea and conversation.

She is survived by her son, Randy Johnson; and her granddaughter, Allie Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Johnson; her son, Jeffrey Paul Johnson (January 28, 2002); 4 brothers, Howard Weaver, Clifford Weaver, Arden Weaver and Robert Weaver; and 3 sisters, Alice Spencer, Betty Kruse, and Joyce Bumphrey.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Peotone United Methodist Church with funeral services being held at 12:00 p.m., Rev.
