Nancy Louise Schafer, 78, of Monee, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. She was born January 10, 1935 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Burrell) Hoffmann. She attended and received a degree from Wright Junior College in Chicago. She worked at LaSalle Bank in Chicago, also for a time as a teacher's aide at Green Garden Elementary School, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, North Peotone, where she was the longtime treasurer of the church's women's guild. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and took great pride in everything they did.

She is survived by her loving husband, Otto Schafer, who she married on November 4, 1961 in Park Ridge, IL. She was the loving mother of Scott (Janice) Schafer of Frankfort and Amy (Walter) Keyser of Hendersonville, NC; the adored grandma of Anna Keyser, Peter Keyser and Madelyn Schafer; and the dear sister of twin sisters, Dolores Couture of Palos Park and Dorothy (Chester) Belford of Park Ridge. She will also be sadly missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Friday, December 27 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, North Peotone, on Saturday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Bruce Salter officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at church prior to the funeral. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, North Peotone. Memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ would be appreciated.
