Myra Thatcher, 84, of Monee died Tuesday, June 18th, 2013 at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23rd from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 24th at 10:30 a.m. from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone. Father Dan Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be in Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the Family's Wishes would be appreciated.
Mrs. Thatcher was born on February 26th, 1929 in South Holland, IL, the daughter of Richard and Cora (VanDeursen) Eylander. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. Her greatest joy in life came from being with her family who she loved so very much. She enjoyed being involved and active in all of their lives. She faithfully attended her children's and grandchildren's activities and events. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and especially fishing. She attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone.
She is survived by her husband of more than 66 years, John Thatcher of Monee, who she married on January 31st, 1947 in Blue Island, IL. She is also survived by 3 children; Janet (Gary) Hase of Monee, Joyce (the late Keith) Albers of Peotone, and Jimmy Thatcher of Peotone; 2 daughter-in-laws, Rosalie Robbins (the late John A.) Thatcher and Debra Friddle (the late Joe Thatcher) both of Wilmington; 9 grandchildren, John (Jody) Thatcher, Raymond Thatcher, Angela (Ed) Brandau, Shannon Emmons, Justin Friddle, Gary (April) Hase, Matthew (Jennifer) Hase, Julie Hase (Richard) Balow, and Ashley Thatcher; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Seymour (the late Marge) Eylander of Scranton, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Thatcher was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, John A. Thatcher (April 4th, 2012) and Joe Thatcher (April 12th, 2012); a son-in-law, Keith Albers (March 4th, 2009); a granddaughter, Stacey Thatcher; 2 brothers, Gerrit and Andrew Eylander; and 3 sisters, Nellie Rothgeb, Ruth Fouty, and Evelyn Mangano.
