Merle L. Soucie

Merle L. Soucie, age 68, of Sheldon, IL, formerly of Peotone, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 12, 1958, in Aurora, IL, the son of the late Maurice and Audrey (Wilke) Soucie. Merle married Debra Daley on July 17, 1982, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone, IL. Merle was a jack of all trades and worked as a truck driver, farmer, and pipeline maintenance worker. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and participating in tractor pulls and demolition derbies.

Merle is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra Soucie; his 2 sons and daughters-in laws, Jeff and Jamie Soucie and Brandon and Alli Soucie; 4 grandchildren, Angelina Munoz-Suarez, Beckett Soucie, Denny Groen, and Logan Groen; and a great-granddaughter, Zaela Claypool.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:00 pm.-8:00 p.m. with a memorial service being held at 8:00 p.m., Chaplain John Franklin officiating. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
