Mary Ann Soda Papandrea, 62, of Manteno died Sunday, May 8 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. A native of Peotone, she was the daughter of Peter A. Soda Sr. and Edna T. “Bonnie” Key Soda, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is also preceded in death by brothers Peter A. Soda Jr. and Paul Soda.
Mary Ann is survived by husband Michael Papandrea; her legacy lives on through her children, Jeffrey Schaeffer (Kasandra Watkins), Melanie Papandrea Czarnik (Mike), Michelle Papandrea (Javier Lopez), Joseph Papandrea and grandson Henry. She is also survived by brother Scott Soda (Marjorie); several nieces and nephews; and dog Sammy.
Mary Ann studied for a short time at the Art Institute in Chicago and loved painting in her spare time. She spent more than 30 years as a successful restaurant owner and always enjoyed meeting new people She adored her four beautiful children and was always so proud to be their mother. Always quick with an “I love you”, her family meant everything to her.
While Mary Ann’s family is devastated by her sudden death, they are grateful she was an organ donor and able to help multiple people.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15 from 1-4 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m., Deacon Milt Leppert officiating.
