Marvin E. Becker

     Marvin E. Becker, age 91, formerly of Gilman and Peotone, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Heartis Assisted Living in Orland Park, IL.

     He was born on November 26, 1931, in Beecher, IL, the son of George Sr. and Elizabeth (Stolzenbach) Becker.  Marvin was a United States Army Veteran serving from July 16, 1952, to April 22, 1954, during the Korean War.  He married Aletha E. (Cotter) Becker on May 15, 1954, at Danforth Reformed Church in Danforth, IL.  She preceded him in death on February 18, 2018.  Marvin was a retired machinist working for Ford Motor Company and was a farmer.  He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone where he served on the church board and a member and past president of the Peotone Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a charter member of the Slow Boys Tractor and Engine Club of Gilman, enjoyed restoring old tractors, and fishing.  Marvin was a very social person and attended every event offered at all the assisted living facilities where he resided in the recent years.

     He is survived by his three children, Wayne M. (Linda S.) Becker of Gilman, Keith M. (Julie A.) Becker of Peotone, and Tamra Lynn Becker of Park Ridge; three grandchildren, Kimberly A. Becker, Kristina M. Becker, and Katherine M. (Tom) McNulty; four great-grandchildren, Natalie A. Greskoviak, Grace M. Wieck, Declan L. Conrad, and Zachary J. McNulty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Aletha E. Becker; four brothers, George Jr. (Loretta), Louis (Elda), Arnold (Helen) and Vernon Becker; five sisters, Kathryn (Frank) Malone, Lorna (Lavern) Waldvogel, Carolyn (Don) Smith, Marion (Norman) Ruhbeck, and an infant sister, Dorothy.

     Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Monday, December 26 from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 311 W. Corning Ave., Peotone, IL on Tuesday, December 27 at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.  Military honors and interment services will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at 12:30 p.m.  Memorials may be directed to Park Ridge Care Center, 665 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge, IL, 60068.  Share a memory at www.feddehelfrichcrossfh.com
