Marjorie A. Flint

Marjorie A. Flint, age 94, of Peotone, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Miller Healthcare in Kankakee, IL.

She was born June 15, 1928 at the family farm in Green Garden Township, Monee, IL; in the same house as her father and grandfather; the daughter of William and Martha (Ludwig) Albrecht.  She attended a one room school for eight grades and then graduated from Peotone High School.  Her entire life was spent in the area.  Her final years were spent in Kankakee at Riverside Senior Life Communities.

She married Gordon Flint at St. Liborius Rectory in Steger, IL on November 21, 1948, by Father Raymond DeMuth. Most of their married life she and Gordon farmed west of Peotone.  She was a talented seamstress and besides making most of her family’s clothing, she also made five wedding dresses.  She was active in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wilton Center as an Eucharistic minister, usher, and greeter.  Genealogy was her greatest passion and during her life compiled a huge collection of records and family information for both her family and Gordon’s going back to the 1500’s in some instances.

She is survived by her children; Roy (Ethel) Flint of Kewanna, IN and Katherine (Bruce) Clover of Peotone, IL; her grandchildren, John (Nichole) Flint, Ivin (Myra) Flint, Holly (Nick) Jones, Matthew (Dana) Clover, and Julia Clover; eight great-grandchildren, Casey (David), Roger Cheyenne), and Sadie Flint, Dorion and Aineias Jones, and Adalyn, Avery, and Max Clover; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Pearl Crocker and Doris Byron; and her long-time caregiver, Rosario Diaz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Albrecht (1978) ; her husband, Gordon Flint (May 18, 2013); an infant sister, Margaret; her only cousin, Verne Radigk (1978); Brothers-in-law, Everett Lee, George, Walter, and Melvin Flint, Jesse Crocker, and Michael Byron; and sisters-in-law, Frances “Ike”, Marilee, and Ruth Flint.
