Marian Chesser

Marian Chesser died early in the morning of December 23, 2015 at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Park, IL after a short fight with cancer. She was born November 29, 1938 in Sumner Township, rural Grant Park, IL to Gilbert Wichtendahl and Florentina Mecklenburg.

She attended Manteno schools graduating with the class of 1956. She met and married Ervin Kannberg at Bennett Industries in Peotone where they both worked. They raised 3 children: David, Daryl and Suzanne. Ervin and Marian divorced after the children were grown and Marian married Fred Chesser.

Marian loved to travel and had traveled to Europe, New Zealand, Canada, Hawaii and all across the US. She started a travel agency late in life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Florentina; stepmother Darline Meyer Wichtendahl; sister Eilene Wichtendahl; and infant twin brothers.

She is survived by her husband Fred of Momence, ex-husband Ervin (Mary) Kannberg of Peotone, sons David (Louisa) Kannberg of Wellington, FL, Daryl (Joni Sand) Kannberg of Solon, OH, daughter Suzanne (Mike) Meyer of Oconomowoc, WI, and step-daughter Cassandra Pferschy. She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa (Adam) Becker, Laura Kannberg, Christopher Kannberg, Savannah Kannberg, Seth Kannberg, Sophie Kannberg, Sean Meyer and Max Meyer. She is also survived by a great grandson, Ricky Becker.

Memorial visitation will be on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 3pm to 7pm at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W Main, Peotone, IL with a memorial service at 7 pm officiated by Nancy Wheeler. Interment will be in Peotone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or Manteno Education Foundation.
