Leatrice Buck

Leatrice Joyce Buck, 91, of rural Peotone, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Miller Health Care Center.

She was born July 14, 1923, in Bridgman, Mich. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in North Peotone, Past President of the St. John's Women's Fellowship and also a past Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, playing cards, and her cats.

Mrs. Buck is survived by a son, Wayne (Debra) Buck of Momence; two daughters, Linda (Lane) Heatherwick and Janice (Victor VanHorn) Wolkow, both of Peotone; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rachel) Buck of BelAir, Md., Hilary (Ron) Davis of Lockport, Bethany (Andrew) Lanagan of Mokena, Grant Heatherwick of Peotone and Carrie Heatherwick of Boston, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Buck, Andrew Buck, Alaina Buck, Christi Buck, Declan Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She married Everett Buck on October 28, 1945, in Bridgman, Mich., and he died November 7, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, August and Martha Ratz Mensinger; a son-in-law, Roger D. Wolkow on February 8, 2009; a grandson, Christopher R. Wolkow on November 7, 2008; a brother, Leroy Mensinger; and a sister, Lorraine (Paul) Baginske.

Visitation 3 - 8 p.m. Friday, September 5, at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. Services 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, at St. John's United Church of Christ in North Peotone, with the Rev. Bruce Salter officiating. Burial in St. John's Cemetery in North Peotone. Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
