KENNETH J. ROGUS

Kenneth J. Rogus, 66, of Wilmington, IL. passed away in his home Oct, 29, 2026 surrounded by his family.

Born Nov 1, 1959, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Edwin and Gloria (Bigger) Rogus. Ken grew up in Steger, IL and graduated from Thornridge High School Program for the deaf.

Ken worked various janitorial positions at fast food places, to include: “7-Levin” and local VFW.

In his younger days, Kenny was very artistic and would sketch portraits. He had a strong passion for exploring areas, especially Chicago where he would ride his bike over 20 miles, later taking the bus to visit Chicago. Ken did not let his hearing disability stop him from walking everywhere to have coffee and visit people, attend community events and carnivals. Ken was always a character and full of life remembering everyone’s birthdays.

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Survived by his father and stepmother Ed and Karen Rogus, siblings Regina Rockwood, Laurie (Bill) Ellerman, Charles Rogus, Jeff Rogus, Sheila (Ted) Soeka and Steve (Cheryl) Rogus, Aunt Veronica Foss, Cousin Robert (Carla) Rogus and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Step siblings include: David (Debbie) Heintzelman, Kim Briggs, Arnie (Karen) Heintzelman, Todd (Tina) Heintzelman, Mark Heintzelman, BIL Dwayne Tieman.

Preceded in death by his mother Gloria Rogus, brother Edwin Joseph, stepsister Penny Tieman and BIL Steve Briggs.

Visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W. Main St. , Peotone, IL, 60468 on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Pastor Dennis Papp officiating.
