Kathleen A. Wojciechowski

Kathleen A. Wojciechowski, longtime resident of Peotone, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Monday July 17, 2023 at the age of 74.

Kathy was born on October 16, 1948 in Crete, IL, the daughter of Charles and Norma Yates.  For the past 45 years, she enjoyed living on the farm with her husband, Butch, raising her children, being a loving grandmother and opening her heart and home to many foster children.  Kathy was an accomplished author and noted authority on Japanese porcelain art, having written the book, “The Wonderful World of Nippon Porcelain 1891-1921”, published by Schiffer Publications in 1992.  She and her husband spent a lifetime collecting art and antiquities and for over a decade, they owned and operated American Auto Sales in Peotone. In her later years, she held a management position at Kohl’s in Bradley and very much enjoyed her Kohl’s friends, regularly volunteering for charity events and spending quality time together as a group.  She was a lover of nature and animals with a deep knowledge of flowers and birds, spending much of her free time gardening, bird watching and caring for countless generations of farm kittens.  Amongst her favorite pastimes was sitting outside admiring flowers, watching animals, and enjoying the warm sun, while sharing her unique quick wit with her family and friends.  Kathy will be most remembered for her warm heart, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help those in need.  

She is survived by her husband Robert “Butch”, daughters Laurie Hoffman (Dan) of Shorewood, Wendy Stonewall of Beecher, Tammy Mitchell of Kankakee and Robert Wojciechowski of Braceville, her sister Cindy Greenman of Flossmoor, her cherished grandchildren Jalen, Jason, Rasalyn, Jacklyn, Benjamin, Cherilyn, Marilyn, Carolyn, Madelyn, Bobby & Steven and numerous beloved great grandchildren and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Steven Yates.

Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating.  Share a memory at www.feddehelfrichcrossfh.com
