John Kunst

John P. Kunst, 58, of Peotone, died Saturday May 18, 2013 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23 from 3:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m. from the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials to the family would be appreciated.
Mr. Kunst was born on December 27, 1954 to the late Theodore F. Kunst and Marcy G. (Reilly) Kunst who survives. He is also survived by his wife, Debbie (Hejmanowski) Kunst who he married on November 8, 1980 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Homewood, IL; 2 sons, Joe (Andrea Reyling) Kunst of Lockport, IL and Nick Kunst of Japan; a sister, Diane (Jan Marshall) Kunst of Homewood; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Jamie Kunst.
He was an associate member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392, the Peotone Car Club, and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He was active with the Peotone Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars with his friends, fishing, and car racing; especially the N.H.R.A drag racing.
