Janet L. Matthews

     Janet L. Matthews, age 60, of Elwood; formerly of Peotone; passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2023, at her home. 

     She was born on December 12, 1962, in Harvey, IL, the daughter of Othiel C. and Madge Marie (Clark) Matthews.  She was born and raised in Harvey, IL.  Janet worked for Peotone Community 207U School District as a secretary at Wilton Center Elementary School.  She then worked as a personal banker for several different banks.

     She is survived by her sons, Nicholas J. Francis of Elwood and Daniel (Michelle) Francis of Peotone; and her three grandchildren, Kylie M., Skylar L. and Lila I. Francis.

She is also survived by her sisters; Sandra (Darrell) Webb, Joyce Matthews, Donna Matthews, and Pamela Summers; her brother, Gerald Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard T. Francis; and 2 sisters, Carol Matthews Ipock and Debbie Matthews Gillispie.

     A memorial visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, April 23, 2023, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. with a memorial service being held at 4:00 p.m.
