Janet Kay Jacobs

Janet Kay Jacobs, age 66, of Enon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Trinity Community of Fairborn, Ohio. She was born on October 26, 1958, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Wilburt Lee and Violet Marie (Benham) Jacobs. Her formative years were spent on a dairy farm in the heart of rural Illinois, and she lived a fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.

Throughout her life, she was known as a “social butterfly”, never meeting a stranger. Janet enjoyed her work in sheltered workshops, swimming, bowling, word-find puzzles, and crafts, and in her years spent in the home of her sister Elaine and brother-in-law Nelson Henning, she became an Ohio State Buckeyes football fan.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, Jackie long, and a brother-in-law, Larry Jacobsen. She is survived by siblings Lee (Joy) Jacobs of Perry, Michigan; Nancy Jacobsen of Downers Grove, Illinois; Elaine (Nelson) Henning of Enon, Ohio; and Anne (Dennis) Long, of Rantoul, Illinois. She is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews, and 28 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service was held in Enon, Ohio, in December of 2024, and a second service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 31, in Peotone, Illinois, preceding inurnment of her ashes at her parents’ gravesite in the Peotone Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the service begins at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 West Main Street, Peotone.
