James Scrivens

James H. Scrivens, 70, of Peotone, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL. He was born on December 31, 1942 in Chicago Heights, the son of Wm. Howard and Lillian (Meyer) Scrivens. He was an electrical engineer for Warfield Electric in Frankfort, IL. He was a US Navy Veteran serving 2 tours in Vietnam on the USS Coral Sea. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and the Navy Unit Commendation Medal. He was an avid fisherman and a craftsman, especially working with wood. He was a lover of all things electronic, particularly anything to do with Apple. He also conducted seminars for troubleshooting lift truck motors. He was a member of the Peotone United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Lohrbach) Scrivens who he married on September 6, 1975 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone; 3 children, Andrei (Nicole) Scrivens of Western Springs, Jamie (Matthew) Hammond of Oceanside, CA, and Philip (Carol) Scrivens of Peotone; and 5 grandchildren, Lillian, Andrew, Katelyn, Isabelle, and Isaac. He is also survived by numerous cousins, other family members, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wm. Howard Scrivens (July 6, 1991) and Lillian W. (Meyer) Scrivens (September 15, 2012).

Visitation will be at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Saturday, June 29 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Sunday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Peotone Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrei Scrivens, Jamie Hammond, Philip Scrivens, Matthew Hammond, Ron Werner, and Dean Lohrbach. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Schwiesow, John Stassen, Myron Boyajian, and Marvin Bluestein. Memorials can be made to the Family's Wishes.
