James Lee “Jim” Offermann January 28, 1937 – September 20, 2026

Jim Offermann, 89, passed away on September 20, 2026, at Burr Ridge Senior Living in Burr Ridge, Illinois, where he had spent the last few years of his life.

Jim was born on January 28, 1937, in Joliet, Illinois, to Edward and Loretta (White) Offermann. He grew up in the Wilton Center area and later became a longtime resident of Peotone, Illinois, where he built his life, raised his family, and became a familiar part of the community. He later resided in Manteno, Illinois.

Jim was a hardworking businessman who spent much of his career in the waste management/disposal industry. He was the co-owner of A&J Disposal out of Peotone, IL, with his business partner, Alan Hall. After A&J Disposal was sold to Star Disposal, Jim continued working in the industry and eventually retired from Homewood Disposal.

Outside of work, Jim enjoyed golfing and was an avid sports fan. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and a Chicago White Sox fan. He loved watching NASCAR racing and dirt track racing.

Above all, Jim leaves behind generations of family who will carry his memory forward. He is survived by his children, Jeff (Bonnie) Offermann, Debbie (Pat) Nelson, and Donna (Joe) Chiariello; his grandchildren, Jenna (Josh) Dutour, Ryan (Lisa) Offermann, Brett (Cassie) Nelson, Brad Nelson, Joey Chiariello, and Abby Chiariello; his great-grandchildren, Miranda (Clayton) Simpson, Reese Dutour, Landon Offermann and Rylan Offermann; and one great-great-granddaughter, Stevie Simpson. Jim is also survived by his two sisters, Barb Barthleme and Kathy Offermann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Loretta (White) Offermann; his brother, Don Offermann; and his longtime partner, Carolyn Meyer.

Visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Patrick Cemetery in Manhattan, IL.
