Herbert R. Panice, 75, of Hurley, Wisconsin—formerly of Peotone, Illinois—passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, surrounded by the family he so deeply loved.

Herb, Pop, Dad—he answered to many names, but to all who knew him, he was no ordinary man. He was the man. Born in Chicago to Herbert Sr. and Clara Panice, Herb lived a life full of adventure, passion, and unwavering love for those he held dear.

A proud Army veteran, Herb served his country with strength and humility, though he rarely spoke of his time in the service. His life afterward was marked by hard work and bold ventures. He was a true entrepreneur, owning and operating multiple successful businesses throughout his life, ultimately dedicating over 20 years to his thriving vending business.

Yet, for all of his professional accomplishments, Herb’s greatest pride—and the legacy he’d most want remembered—was being “Pop” to his grandchildren. He fiercely loved his grandkids and created a lifetime of cherished memories with them. Whether it was ATV rides, sledding, tubing, or adventures at "the train place," Pop was always there—laughing, storytelling, showing up for every important moment. His love was loud, proud, and constant.

Those who knew Herb will forever remember his wild, funny stories—often as unbelievable as they were hilarious. But beyond the laughter, we loved him for his loyalty, his strength, his humor, and the way he made each of us feel special.

Herb is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Deborah Steury of Peotone; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Panice (Clausing) and Randy Clausing; his stepchildren, Jeffery Wisek and Curtis Wisek; and his beloved grandchildren: Cheyenne Clausing, Raegan Clausing, Jackson Wisek, and Jordan Wisek. He also leaves behind his sisters, Barb Panice, Debbie and Mike Gulotta Panice, and Judy and Joe Messana.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sr. and Clara Panice.

We are heartbroken to say goodbye, but forever grateful for the years we shared. Herb will live on in the stories we tell, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.

Rest easy, Pop. We carry you with us—always.
