Elouise M. Clausing, age 95, of Peotone, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at her home.
She was born on January 29, 1926 in Beecher, the daughter of Noel and Malinda (Beutjer) Martin. She married Homer V. Clausing on March 28, 1944 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away on December 20, 2012. Elouise was employed at Crooks/Hilsenhoff Rexall Drug Store and then worked at Teresa Pizza in Peotone. She served as the treasurer for the Village of Peotone starting in 1970 until she was elected Peotone Village Clerk in 1977 and held that office until 1989. She was the longtime president of the Peotone Chamber of Commerce and used her talent for organization to help create numerous events for the Village of Peotone as well as the Chamber of Commerce. Elouise was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, the Eastern Star, and the Peotone American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sports and attending her children’s as well as her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed traveling, loved going to Michigan with her family, and especially enjoyed fishing and being on the water driving the boat that pulled the children waterskiing. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (James) Ingerson of Millington, MI, Gary (Connie) Clausing and Donna (the late Gary) Werner both of Peotone; her grandchildren, Mary Ann (Mike) Price, Paula (Tom) Cadieux, Brian (Heather) Clausing, and Joel Werner; 2 step-grandchildren, Larry Haag and Shannon (Jennifer) Haag; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Homer V. Clausing; an infant son, John; and a son-in-law, Gary Werner
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Friday, July 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with funeral services being held at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Terry Krouskoupf officiating. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
