Donald "Rusty" A. Kanoski

Donald A. Kanoski, affectionately known as “Rusty”, of Monee, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 at 74 years old in his favorite place. He was born September 8, 1951 in Kankakee, the son of Edward & Isabelle Benoit Kanoski.

Rusty (Donald) married Cynthia on June 17, 1999. Donald was a former Army veteran during the Vietnam war. Upon his return from the service, he became a Union Commercial Sheet Metal constructor. He retired from construction work and has since spent many years reconstructing his beloved, ‘BelCamino”, traveling to Tri-Five shows, and was in the process of rebuilding an old vintage Chevy pickup truck. He thoroughly enjoyed watching NASCAR and all car races, and rarely missed a Chicago Bears game. He was a member of the Monee American Legion, serving as commander for several terms.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Cindy Kanoski of Monee, daughter Dawn (Mark) Holmgren of Ellicott City, MD, son Adam Kanoski of Hometown, IL, daughter Stephanie (Phillip) Thompson of Crown Point, IN, and daughter Rachel (Melvin) Konecny of Manteno, IL. One brother Ronald (Joan) Kanoski of Florida, twelve grandchildren Kody, Sabrina, Nate, Ryder, Alaina, Katherine, Spencer, Aiden, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Grant, Blake, and two great-grandchildren, Dax and Wyatt.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carol, and one brother, Thomas.

Military honors and committal services to be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, at 1:00 p.m. sharp.  Guests are asked to meet at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery and line up promptly at 12:45 p.m.

Memorials to be made to the Kanoski family to cover unexpected costs.
