Dennis Michael Peterson

Dennis Michael Peterson, age 32, passed away on May 20, 2026, in Peotone, Illinois. He was born on September 29, 1993, in Oak Lawn, Illinois to his loving parents Dennis Dale Peterson and Sherry Ann (Sternal) Peterson. He was a devoted son, brother, nephew, grandson, uncle and friend. Dennis spent his childhood years playing hockey and reveled in motocross. He loved spending time with friends and family especially when it came to fishing. He received his auto-mechanic certifications and pursued a career in the high-tech automotive and diesel industry. Even after work, he could be found working on a car. If you knew him in life, I’m sure he fixed your car at some point. He enjoyed the challenges of his career and was driven to give it his all. He had a passion for music and was fond of cooking, especially when it came to making special dinners for his loved ones. He had an extraordinary compassion towards animals and made sure everything was taken care of on the family farm. He was truly a sweet, selfless, generous, and kind-hearted man with a laugh that was considered contagious by all. He would do anything for his friends and family without ever asking for anything in return. He was loved by so many and will be missed greatly.

Dennis Jr is survived by his father Dennis Peterson Sr, sister Mary Peterson (Kyle Vadeboncoeur), nephew Atlas James Vadeboncoeur, step niece and nephew Gianna and Jace Vadeboncoeur, great aunt Barbra (Jim) Hamilton, uncle Larry (Debbie) Sternal, aunt Patricia Maloney, cousins Kellen (Shawn) Smith, Scott (Katie) Sternal, Michelle (Dan) Perham, Shannon (Justin) Telez, Sean Peterson (Amanda Wieder), Jimmy Galvin (Megan Langner), Denise Galvin, second cousins Sebastian Sternal, Olivia and Emily Perham, Alayna, Lillian and Tommy Peterson.

Dennis Jr was proceeded in death by his mother Sherry A (Sternal) Peterson, uncle Glenn Sternal, uncle Marty Maloney, paternal grandfather Dale Peterson, paternal grandmother Mary (Galvin) Peterson, maternal grandfather Frank Sternal and maternal grandmother Casmira (Rutkowski) Sternal.

Memorial visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W. Main St., Peotone, IL on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. with a memorial service being held at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the wishes of the family would be appreciated.
