Aretta Lettie Olson

Aretta Lettie (Wendell) Olson, born May 25th, 1930, passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2022 in Bradley, IL. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Arens of Chicago, her second husband, Eugene Olson of Northlake, and three of her four children, Dennis Arens, Paulette Lux, and Kevin Arens. Her oldest son, Paul Arens, a disabled Vietnam Veteran, lives in Manteno, Illinois with his wife of 54 years, Cheryl (Fearnow) Arens. Her stepdaughter, Cindy Olson, lives in Algonquin, Illinois.

Aretta is survived by her grandchildren, Andrea Arens, Candice (Arens) Stojack, Morgan Arens, Dennis Arens, Ryan Lux, Jordan Hall, and Amanda Arens and 7 great grandchildren.

Aretta was born in Chicago, Illinois where she grew up. She graduated high school and worked at Hall Printers in Chicago, one of the leading printers of magazines and catalogs, retiring from there when it shuttered its doors in 1987.

Aretta often kept books and magazines from Hall to read. Her grandchildren have fond memories of her collections of reading materials and rare prints of magazines she had collected over the years. She enjoyed big family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a fond lover of animals, always having a dog and cat as pets.

Aretta’ s services are private. Aretta suffered a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Memorials may be made to the family’s wishes.
