Anita L. Werner

     Anita L. Werner, age 90, of Manteno, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.

     She was born on May 5, 1932, in Joliet, IL, the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Harms) Marquardt.  She married Eugene John Werner on February 24, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church in Matteson, IL.  He passed away on July 26, 1985.  Anita worked earlier in her life at First National Bank in Chicago and then at Governors State University in University Park, IL.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frankfort, IL, where she held many leadership positions and worked as the secretary.  She was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League where she served in the past as president.  She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

     She is survived by her son, Mark Werner of O’Fallon, IL; her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Kevin (Sheryl) Werner of Manteno, IL; her grandchildren, Kayla Werner, Kelsey Werner, Anna Werner, and Luke Werner; and her brother, Harold (the late Betty) Marquardt.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant sister, Ruth Ann.

     Visitation will be held at Risen Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1881 W. Division St., Manteno, IL, on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services being held at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Kevin Hahn officiating.  A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the funeral service.  Interment will be at Manhattan Center Cemetery in Manhattan, IL.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Risen Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Share a memory at www.feddehelfrichcrossfh.com
