Velma Louise McGreer Tucker, 70, of Milan, Tenn., formerly of Chicago Heights, died Monday (April 27, 2009) at St. James Hospital Vitas Hospice in Chicago Heights. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the 3 p.m. funeral service at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. Deacon Gene LaBelle will officiate.

Interment will be in Peotone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes.

Mrs. Tucker was a retail manager at Saxon's Wallpaper and Paint in Markham. She was born Aug. 23, 1938, in LaGrange Park, the daughter of Audrey Willis and Goldia White McGreer. Her husband, John I. Tucker, whom she married Feb. 23, 1957, in Jeffersonville, Ind., died April 21, 2009. She and her husband loved to farm and participate in the Farmers Market.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Charles Sharp of Peotone; three sons and one daughter-in-law, John Tucker and Daniel Tucker, both of Manteno, Timothy and Andrea LaBelle Tucker of Peotone; eight grand-children and two great-grandchildren; and four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jerry McGreer of Birmingham, Ala., David and Terri McGreer, Steven and Dean McGreer, all of Missouri, and Donald and Pam McGreer of Sugar Grove.Her parents are deceased.
