Main St. Peotone, IL 60468 Service Saturday, September 12, 2009 4:00 p.m. Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home Laura Elizabeth (nee Braaten) Thompson, age 66, of Beecher and Peotone, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009 at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. She was born on July 28, 1943 in Davenport, IA to the late Roger Oscar and Laura Jean (nee Hackett) Braaten. Mrs. Thompson was an English teacher in the Crete-Monee School District for 34 years retiring in 1999. She was a member and officer of P.E.O. and a former member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone. She loved to celebrate her friends and family by hosting celebrations, holiday gatherings, and shopping to find gifts for her loved one’s milestones. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Lee Thompson who she married on May 29, 1965 in Dubuque, IA. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melora (Patrick) Bales of Peotone; a grandson, Dylan Oak Bales; a sister, Carolyn (Andrew) Schreiner of Herndon, VA; a brother, C. Timothy (Karen) Braaten of Medina, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. from the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. |
