Main St. Peotone, IL 60468 Service Monday, July 13, 2009 Immanuel United Church of Chirst, Peotone Ervin L. Piper, 87, of Manteno, IL passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee. He married the late Verna (nee Lindemann) Piper (deceased Oct. 3, 2008) on March 20, 1948 at St. Peter’s Church in Green Garden. He was born on June 17, 1922 in Peotone, IL to the late Clarence and Alvina (Klipp) Piper. He was a retired farmer, a former trustee of the board for the Kankakee ASCS office, and a former member of the church council at Immanuel United Church of Christ where he was a member. Mr. Piper is survived by a son; Lester Piper of Grant Park, IL; a grandson, Jason Piper of Grant Park, IL; a sister, Lucille Karstensen of Beecher, IL; and a brother, Russell Piper of New Lenox, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Richard and Stanley; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Piper (Feb. 6, 2009). Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone, Rev. Bill Riegle officiating. Interment will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the Immanuel United Church of Christ or Hospice of Kankakee Valley would be appreciated. |
