Doris E. Froehner, age 84, of rural Peotone, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Bradley Royale Health Care Center in Bradley, IL.

She was born on January 5, 1925 in Chicago to the late Ernest and Esther (Neslund) Sjo. She was a member of the Immanuel UNITED Church of Christ in Peotone, the Peotone American Legion Auxiliary, was a homemaker who loved to cook and do embroidery, enjoyed camping in Texas, and going to and working at auctions.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lloyd A. Froehner, who she married on April 21, 1945 in Peotone. She is also survived by a son, Paul (LaVerne) Froehner of Peotone; a daughter, Lynn (Duane) Temme of Peotone; a daughter-in-law, Donna Froehner of Peotone; 8 grandchildren, Jason, James, and John Froehner, Jeff (Nicole) Temme, Brenda (Ron) Temme, Deanna (Eric) Greenquist, Heather (Joe) Iwanus, and Angela Froehner; 7 great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brianne Temme, Lyndsey and Anna Greenquist, Macy and Nicholas Iwanus, and Ayla Froehner; and 2 sisters, Anna (Herbert) Schumacher of Park Forest and Betty (George) Druktenis of Tinley Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Clayton, Clifford and Ralph Sjo; and a son, Ralph L. Froehner (2008).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home with funeral services on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Riegle will officiate. Interment will follow at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials to the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Peotone would be appreciated.
