Main St. Peotone, IL 60468 Service Monday, April 27, 2009 11 a.m. Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home John A. ''Jack'' Christensen, age 81, of Peotone, died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee, IL. He was born on February 11, 1928 in Dwight, IL to the late Axel H. and Ella (Jacobsgaard) Christensen. He was a Charter Bus Driver for many years and retired from the Peotone School District where he worked as a custodian. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of the Peotone American Legion Post 392, and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, North Peotone. He is survived by 2 sons, Steven (Debra) and Gerard (Sandi) Christensen both of Manteno; a daughter, Kathy (Richard) Haydysch of Louisburg, NC; and 7 grandchildren, David (Jenn) Haydysch, Amanda Haydysch, Zak and Jeni Christensen, Denise and Jen Tejada, and Alex Kane. Mr. Christensen was preceded in death by his wife, Marie L. (Sovad) Christensen (Aug. 15, 2007) who he married on November 1, 1953 in Dwight. He was also preceded by his parents; a brother, Earl J. Christensen; and a sister, Blanche Papineau. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 2-7 p.m. at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Salter officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ or the Peotone American Legion Post 392 would be appreciated. |
