Lois Maude (Ruder) HeisnerJune 28, 1928 ~ September 27, 2017 (age 89)
Lois Maude Heisner, age 89, of Peotone, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Beecher Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Beecher.
She was born June 28, 1928 at the family farm house in Monee. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Maude (Deutsche) Ruder. She married the late Harold E. Heisner on December 12, 1948 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Monee. He passed away on September 5, 2001. Harold and Lois lived and raised their two children on the family dairy farm. Her home was filled with the faith of God, family, and friends. Nobody ever left hungry or unloved. She was proud of her neatness and staying very organized therefore never forgetting to send everyone birthday cards. Lois was known for defending those she loved, her generosity, her love of chocolate and playing pinochle, her brownies, and her chocolate chip cookies. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, North Peotone, where she was active in the women’s guild, teaching bible class, playing piano, and sharing her angelic voice in the choir. Following Harold’s passing, Lois moved to town where she currently shared her home with her beloved, Don Sheming, and her cat, Midnight “Middy”.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie (Ed) Maher of Bettendorf, IA; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian (Jane Deters) Heisner of LeClaire, IA; 5 grandchildren, Nels (Liz) Hanson, Heidi (Aaron) Gayle, Keegan (Shawn) Sellers, Linley (Robert) Aspatore, and Vince (Mindy) Taylor; 4 great-grandchildren; her special partner, Donald Sheming of Peotone; Donald’s 3 daughters, Carolyn Meyer of Manteno, Nancy Sheming of Tinley Park, and Marilyn Howard of Orland Park; and a brother, Ralph Ruder of Ashkum. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Ruder.
Visitation will be held at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home in Peotone on Friday, September 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, North Peotone, on Saturday, September 30 at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Pat Morton officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Monee. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John’s United Church of Christ or the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
